Interview with Pro basketball player Mario Williams

“Where are you originally from and how did you hear about the Tallahassee Southern Kings?” - Smith

“I’m originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin but before coming here; I was playing overseas in Praia, Cape Verde. One night I had a really great game, I had like a 50 point game so I got a call to try out for the D league. I tried out for the D league but it didn’t go well and then that’s when I got a call straight here.”

- Williams

Well we are very lucky and happy to have you here in Tallahassee. Now that you’re apart of the team, what are your individual goals?” - Smith

“This is a developmental league, so we’ll be playing in front of a lot of scouts from all over the world. I'm working to better my game so I’ll be prepared for that next level, when I get that call.”
 -Williams

“Now that you mention your game, what can we expect from you this upcoming season?”
 - Smith

“I come to play hard. Every possession and every play I give it my all. I’m willing to do anything it takes to help my team win.” - Williams

“ It sounds like you’re going to fit in well with the team. Name two of your greatest skills, that you bring to the Sourthern Kings” - Smith

“My greatest skills….I’d have to go with shooting and dribbling of course! To be the size that I am and be able to dribble and shoot the way I shoot suprises most people.”

- Williams

“Who would you say you mirror your game after?” - Smith

“I really don’t try mirroring my game after anyone but I was always told that I sort of mirror Kevin Durant or Brandon Ingram.” - Williams

“What does your diet and nutrition plan look like being that you are a professional athlete and would you agree that what you take in is just as important as working out?” - Smith

“Yes you have to take care of your body just as much as you go to the gym. Right now I’m working with F45; they are one of the best training groups in America. I have to eat a lot of protein to bulk up to get the body frame that I’m working for.” - Williams

“Do you have a teammate that you workout with ? If so who is your go to guy when you want to put some work in at the gym?” - Smith

“The teammate I workout with is Jake, we gained a great bond immediately and he’s my roommate so it would most likely be Jake. But I could really depend on all of my teammates if I came down to it.” - Williams

We are very excited to see more of you in the games to come Mario. This is an exciting new journey for you and it’s going to bring a lot of attention for the Big Bend area. Good luck in your upcoming season and thank you for your time.” - Smith
