Who are the Tallahassee Southern Kings?

Evelyn Magley, CEO of the Basketball League (TBL) - Indianapolis IN; announced in June of 2021 the newest team of the league. The Tallahassee Southern Kings, now joins Tampa and Sarasota in the Florida Market. The Basketball League currently has 42 teams throughout the country.

What is the TBL?

The Basketball League is a paid showcase” league that places young men on a stepping block to be seen and scouted by fans and teams in various locations. The season last for approximately three and a half months; extending from March to June

What is the TBL mission?

The TBL’s mission is to help as many young adults achieve their highest potential in the game of professional basketball by serving the community, offering job opportunities, internships, as well as offering workshops in financial literacy.

How will this help the Big Bend Area?

Through the partnership of the TBL, the Tallahassee Southern Kings are bringing something to the Big Bend area that a lot of young men have been longing for. That being, HOPE. Hope for a better situation, hope for a better opportunity, and a hope for change. There is a lot of talent that comes out of Tallahassee and the surrounding areas but they often are overlooked due to lack of resources. These players are now apart of a professional minor league basketball association. This league will give the community something to do and it also gives our young men an opportunity to chase their dreams vigorously while getting paid to do it.

What can we expect from the Southern Kings this season?

Too little is known about the team thus far. What we do know is, the team consist of sixteen, well rounded players; that possess next level basketball IQ. Most of the players on the Southern Kings roster have played basketball at a collegiate level and some have even played on a professional level prior to theTBL league. Their exhibition game is today, March 1st at seven this evening. The Tallahassee Community College will serve as the home gym of the Tallahassee Southern Kings.
